Castle Mill Works Update

Work at Castle Mill Works continues to focus on deconstruction and strengthening the building in preparation for the construction phase in the new year. The focus in October has been on excavation, drainage and the removal of floors, windows and roofs.

Progress has also been made on repairing and replacing rafters. While new steelwork has been added to strengthen both existing steelwork and timber beams, prior to installing the new concrete floors.

To establish the new entrance from Dundee Street, a reduction in internal levels was required in parts of the building. Preparation for our new lift has also started, with construction of the base underway.

A chemical damp proof course and rot remedial works have been undertaken. While brickwork remedial works, cleaning and repointing have continued. Exposing some fantastic brickwork indicative of its era.

As outlined above, the building work remains focused on deconstruction and stabilising the building. In the new year, the project will move into the construction stage and the layout of our new home will start to take shape.

Whilst work has started on transforming Castle Mill Works into a vibrant arts centre, we urgently need to raise the remaining money to complete this project. Find out how you can help us build our new home!
